Today, at a beautifully dramatic site on the North Pembs coast, we found a Dartford Warbler on a site true to their nature......gorse, heather and a pair of watchful Stonechats. It took the best part of two hours, a flask of perk and a chocky bar, to confirm breeding. In BTO speak: ad carrying food to nest.
Returning to Pencarnan, the campsite's Porthselau Beach provided 7 Sanderlings, all of which were sporting the winter half of their plumage spectrum in varying degrees. Interestingly, last week, in Lesvos, all the Sanderlings we observed were in the breeding half of their colour spectrum.......no little white jobs racing around the tide-line there!
