A dead, ringed, immature male merlin (D.B49500) was found by someone who placed it in a bag and hung it on the NT Bosherston Car park hut (sometime early this morning?). I happened to be over at Stackpole when Paul Culyer (NRW) was examining the somewhat emaciated, soaking wet and very bedraggled corpse. This is potentially a very interesting find indeed but it would be great to know who found it and also where it was found so that this additional information can go to the BTO with the ring details. Presumably it was picked up somewhere along the beach at Broadhaven, or maybe in the water around Bosherston Lakes? It will be interesting to find out where this bird was ringed.
