A day out with Ian Smith. We started out at Kilpaison shortly after high tide where there were good numbers of small waders though difficult to count in the lashing rain - c90 Dunlin, 80 Ringed Plover, 6 Turnstones, 1 Knot.
Over at Angle Harbour after the rain had passed there were 7 Little Egrets, 45 Med Gulls on the Shingle spit, all adults apart from 2 juvs and c. 100 Black Headed Gulls. On a walk along to the Lodge there were 4 Redshank, 3 Bar Tailed Godwit, a Greenshank, 45 Oystercatchers and, out in the bay, 4 Great Crested Grebes.
In the afternoon at West Williamston a young Peregrine was (unsuccessfully) pursuing a Black Tailed Godwit.
