Iceland Gull at Pembroke Castle Pond

A brief visit to Pembroke Millponds late this afternoon produced a nice 1CY Iceland Gull on Pembroke Castle Pond. Initially it was resting with Herring Gulls but then got caught up in a feeding frenzy with mixed Herring and Black-headed Gulls at the Mill bridge end. We managed to take some photos, but being close to dusk the light was very poor and so required high ISO values (up to 20,000!). At least the sensors on latest mirrorless cameras allow something to be obtained even in very poor light!

The gulls at Pembroke Millponds are regularly attracted to food given to the swans etc by local families, so it might stick around for a while. Will it feed during the day with other gulls in slurry-fed grass fields in the area? Will it drop in to bathe with the other gulls at Carew Millpond at some time. Is Caspian Gull X290 also attached to one of the winter gull flocks somewhere in the south Pembs area?
