Out and about

A full day out with Paul. Starting at Broad Haven for high tide we found the scoter flock of 150 close to shore just north of the beach. A quick scan turned up 7 Eider in a tight group and not far away the 1cy Surf scoter. Conditions were a bit choppy but no sign of any divers or anything else here or at Goultrop. 2 Chough and 4 Purple sandpiper on the sheltered side of Emmet Rock. On to Bicton Pool, no sign of any duck apart from a couple of mallard and a dozen Coot. The Gann next, the dozen or so Greenfinch that Paul W mentions were feeding along the top of the beach with a couple of chaffinch. A GC grebe out in the bay. 14 Little grebe on the pools seemed a good count. An adult Yellow-legged gull and a 1cy GBB gull with green ring left tarsus N:2G4 (or something very similar in the blustery conditions) sheltering on one of the islands. A quick lunch stop at Marloes mere and scan from the car park didn't show much apart from a few Lapwing and usual duck before we headed to Llys-y-fran. Best there were 3 adult Yellow-legged gulls, 4 Med gulls (3adult, 1 1w), a single adult GBB. Most interesting gull was an adult Med/BH gull hybrid, we've seen similar birds here before. Another big roost spread the full width and length of the reservoir with many more Herring gulls tonight. 2 male Goldeneye, 3 Little grebe, single GC grebe, Red kite and a Peregrine.
