Castlemartin & Angle Bay

At Castlemartin Corse this morning a juv Marsh Harrier over the reed bed and plenty of Snipe about - c. 80. Otherwise the reedbed and water in front of it was very quiet with just 2 Mute Swans. On the south flank of the Corse opposite Starmans Hall a large area churned up by the cattle was attracting good numbers of Lapwing and Golden Plover with 700+ of the former and 500+ of the latter with some spectacular swirling groups as they flew up and then re settled.

At Kilpaison early afternoon I met Mike Davey and with the tide dropping there was a good selection of birds. 26 Pintail but just a few Wigeon, c.250 Dunlin, 5 Turnstone, 3 Sanderling, 8 Ringed Plover, 12 Knot, 9 Redshank, 16 Barwits. Also 15 Pale Bellied and 1 Dark Bellied Brent Geese. Photo Mike Davey.
