After a nice brunch in the Mill Cafe St Davids, Fran and self took the scenic route back towards Mathry. Although Pen Berry has had some good birds over the years I tease her that its usually rubbish but today I had to eat my words.
I had heard about a Cattle Egret in the area via Paul G and Brian S the previous evening B ut to find it perched in a bank-side tree at the far end of the pond was a bit of a treat.
A Greylag Goose in among the Canada's was also quite nice ...
But the big surprise given the prevailing cold nor easterly winds of recent days was a single Sand Martin hawking whatever insects were available over the water and having a drink. I am not going to apologize for the poor quality of the images as it was a blooming miracle i got anything given the light, speed of the bird and my basic photographic equipment!
