Seeing the continuing 3CY male
Pallid Harrier this evening at Dowrog Common was excellent. It swept low over the road at 18:10 and across the gorse before disappearing into the willows on the northwest side. At 18:25, it reappeared around the same spot, flew south over the road, and appeared to hunt across the southern gorse before disappearing again.
There were at least two ringtail Hen Harriers over the northern willows earlier, but no males. There was also a Little Egret and another unidentified Egret over, at least one Sparrowhawk, five Red Kite early afternoon distantly, and three Buzzard. Also nice to see David Ord and several others, and a visiting birder from Gloucestershire who left before all the action!

Some rather horrendous Pallid Harrier record shots! |
